I’m back, baby!

Hallo peeps and how have you all been?  My summer described a curve resembling the sales figures of a company in freefall (or expensive-fall) before picking up dramatically in the last week.  The weather

– the weather!

went from bad to worse to frankly ridiculous – but you know that, unless you have the good fortune to be in the Outback of Oz or somewhere, in which case consider a large raspberry to have been blown in your direction.  Here it comes –

pllllllllllllllllllllpppppppppppppllllllllllllllllllllllppppppppppppppppppllllllllllllll pppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppllllllllllllllllllllllllpppppppppppp!!!!!

But it wasn’t just the weather it was Everything Going On and Nothing Getting Any Better and not having any money and then facing destitution because the Family Credit people didn’t get the forms (I had a really bad feeling about it when Mark lost the official envelope and folded them all up really small in a little white envelope.  ‘Mark my words’, I said (no pun intended), ‘those forms will go astray.’  And lo, they did go astray – and let it be noted that I derived No Satisfaction What So Ever from that fact.  Mark was on the phone for days before getting through and sorting it out.)  All that plus not having a holiday booked meant that I got increasingly depressed and tearful (but I should also record that some lovely people helped us out when we were in crisis with gifts of food and money and stuff) and finally broke down in floods of tears when Daniel hurt his ankle (yes, that one) just before we were going away.

Anyway, Steve sorted us out with a friendly taxi driver to take us there with all our stuff and we had a brilliant time at the chalet.  We had:

two meals cooked by Daniel

one trip to Cropston Evangelical Church (happy but not clappy)

one visit by Stephen and Faris

two trips to Bradgate Park

and a buzzard circling overhead

I feel like a new woman (who will it be? – ha ha) but the best news is yet to come, because –

drum roll, please!

Ddddddddddddddddddddddrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrddddddddddddddddddrrrrrr!!!!!!

I MAY BE GETTING SOMETHING PUBLISHED!!!!!!!

yes!  You read it here first!  Actually you didn’t read it here first because I didn’t put it on here but I DID send it to the Reader’s Digest and it WAS about Home Ed and I DID get an email from them to say they are interested in publishing!  Not sure whether or how much I’ll be paid (I forget the details) but really pleased they’re interested.

Yay!

Bung me some comments and let me know how you’re doing!

  1. Liz, great to have you back blogging. To be published is “yes, I have been published in something that is well known”. A positive stepping stone.
