Your Circuit’s Dead – is There Something Wrong?

By now most of you will have heard the news – David Bowie is dead.  He was someone you couldn’t help respecting, whether or not you were a fan, because he took risks and remained true to his own voice.  He killed off Ziggy Stardust at an early age because he saw that if he didn’t, Stardust would define him in the way that so many artists are defined by their greatest successes.  He didn’t want to be another Noddy Holder, bashing out ‘Space Oddity’ at the age of 70 with an orange zig-zag on his face, in the way that Holder still bashes out ‘Merry Christmas Everyone’.

Sadly, Bowie won’t see 70 as he has died at the age of 69 from a cancer few people knew he had.  But I think that, although we who remain on earth will be sad, Bowie will not.  Always ready to embrace the future, I’m sure he would have regarded death in the way Albus Dumbledore did – as ‘the next great adventure.’  After all, it’s probably not much different from going to Mars…

Can you hear me, Major Tom?

Can you hear me, Major Tom?

Can you hear me, Major Tom?

Can you hear?

RIP.
