Yep, the decision has been made. I’ve slept on it and I’m going to go ahead and do The Thing. If it’s a disaster then so be it; if not I’ll post a pic.
So, what else is new? Well frankly, not much. I started to watch a Globe Theatre production of Hamlet but it didn’t grab me; I’m all in favour of gender-bending productions but this one seemed a bit random with men and women dotted all over the place. Hamlet was a woman – and whilst many women could do a brilliant job with the Dane, this one seemed whiny rather than gloomy – but then Gertrude was played by a woman and Claudius and Polonius were both men, so it was all a bit confusing. I think if you’re going to bend the genders you should do it straight. If you see what I mean.
So it was back to the old favourites; catching up with University Challenge and a bit of Dinnerladies which I never really watched first time round. I was quite keen to watch Silk, the legal series starring Maxine Peake, now on Britbox, but OH wasn’t keen so that’ll have to wait till I can figure out how to use my laptop to put it on the big TV. Tonight the National Theatre are putting on Jane Eyre so I shall give that a whirl.
Workwise I’m doing a lot of introspective stuff rather than things for publication, taking advantage of this time for a period of introspection. As I’ve said before there are many potential advantages to this pandemic and time is a major one. Then again I haven’t yet lost anyone close to me.
Wish me luck! I’m going to go and do The Thing now. See you on the other side…
