Dear friends, I feel I owe you an explanation for my prolonged absence from this place. The chest infection I had earlier proved more stubborn than I thought so I needed a second dose of antibiotics, after which fatigue set in. This, I have to tell, is no ordinary fatigue. It’s a super-fatigue, a sort of hollowing out of the body and mind. I spend my mornings floating slowly between kitchen and sitting room and my afternoons reclining on the sofa like Elizabeth Barrett waiting for Robert Browning to whisk her away to Italy.
Rest assured I shall be back with you as soon as I am able.
